The series HE, SHE, THEY received one Gold Telly and three Silver Tellys; seven other Brazilian productions received statuettes
Miami, May 26th, 2021, – Eight Brazilian HBO productions were awarded statuettes at the 42nd annual Telly Awards, a ceremony that highlights the excellence of television and video productions. HBO won a total of 21 awards – four gold, 11 silver and six bronze –, keeping with its successful track record of award-winning Brazilian productions.
The HBO original series HE, SHE, THEY was recognized with a Gold Telly in the Social Impact category, as well as with three Silver statuettes in the Entertainment, Directing and Writing categories. The production portrays the journey of Rafa (Aren Gallo), a young pansexual and nonbinary person who decides to leave their family in the countryside and move in with their cousin Vini (Kelner Mâcedo) in the capital. Upon arriving, the main character explains that they don’t self-identify with masculine or feminine pronouns, but rather with gender-neutral ones.
Other Brazilin productions from HBO Latin America Originals, such as the miniseries HARD and the documentary 12 MOEDAS, garnered Gold, Silver and Bronze Tellys. EM NOME DOS PAIS, a documentary series that follows journalist Matheus Leitão in search of the person of who informed against his parents as well as the person who tortured them during the military regime, won a Gold Telly in the History Series category and a Silver one in the Documentary Series category.
With 2 Silver awards and a Bronze, ELAS NO SINGULAR was also highlighted at the ceremony. The documentary series JORGE MAUTNER - KAOS EM AÇÃO and MISSÕES DE VIDA received, respectively, Silver and Bronze Tellys. The fifth season of GREG NEWS WITH GREGÓRIO DUVIVIER rounds out the list with two Bronze statuettes.
